A Little Older, A Little Wiser, A Lot Happier: What I Know Now That I'm 30
On December 12, I turned 30.
A third of my life is behind me, give or take. It’s easy to regret and wish some things had been different, but when I look around at the life and company I’ve built, I can’t help but feel content and a bit wiser.
My 20s were a roller coaster. Can you relate?
If you’re an entrepreneur and creative like I am, I’m sure you can. More than anything, I remember feeling pretty uncertain and confused about which path to take. I didn’t know much, and I didn’t own many things, but I did have a passion – to start and build companies.
I let that guide me, and I couldn’t be happier about where I’ve ended up. Now that I’m 30, I look back and laugh at my seemingly tumultuous 20s.
Looking back at that time reminds me of a quote from Steve Jobs’ 2005 Stanford commencement speech: “...you can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.”
The only thing I had to trust in was myself and my passion for starting companies. Besides that, I can’t say I always knew what I was doing. But now that I’m 30, I do. And I’d love to share some of that with you. CONTINUED....
